Business Trends in Industry, Construction, Retail and Services - September 2025
In September 2025, the overall business climate indicator increased by 0.6 points compared to August (from 20.2% to 20.8%), with growth in the indicator being registered in industry and retail. This is according to data published by the NSI.
Industry. The composite indicator "business climate in industry" increased by 0.5 points (from 18.3% to 18.8%), which is due to the improved assessments of industrial entrepreneurs for the current business situation of enterprises. According to them, in the last month there has been a certain increase in the provision of production with orders, which is also accompanied by increased expectations for production activity in the next three months. The main problems limiting activity in the sector remain the uncertain economic environment and the shortage of labor, indicated by 40.9 and 36.6% of enterprises, respectively. Managers' forecasts for sales prices in industry are that they will maintain their level over the next three months.
Construction. In September, the composite indicator "business climate in construction" decreased by 2.3 points (from 24.9% to 22.6%) as a result of the more reserved expectations of construction entrepreneurs for the business situation of enterprises over the next six months. Their forecasts for construction activity over the next three months also worsened, with the survey also reporting an increase in the number of clients with late payments. The negative impact of the "uncertain economic environment" factor has intensified in the last month, displacing the labor shortage in second place. As for sales prices in construction, managers expect them to remain unchanged over the next three months.
Retail trade. The composite indicator "business climate in retail trade" increased by 6.2 points (from 23.6% to 29.8%), which is due to the improved assessments and expectations of retailers for the business situation of enterprises. Their expectations regarding orders to suppliers over the next three months are also positive. The factor limiting the activities of enterprises to the greatest extent is competition in the industry, followed by the uncertain economic environment, insufficient demand and labor shortage. Retailers' expectations regarding selling prices over the next three months are in the direction of an increase.
